This summer, the SSCA decided to hold it's own Smith Point races directly from Harts Cove, Moriches Bay. Using our own committee boat, two races were held, both starting in Harts Cove, and sailing around Moriches Bay. The weather was sunny and hot with gentle breezes. The tide was going out during the first race to Seatuck cove, and lasted a full two hours. After a lunch break, the second race was held closer within Moriches bay. With low tide being at 1:35 pm, there were many groundings during the race, but everyone managed to finish successfully.
